Ptosis Surgery

My daughter is a candidate to have surgery for her ptosis. Do people with CdLS have a better quality of life if this surgery is done? What are the side effects?

Ptosis surgery is necessary for any of the following reasons:

  1. If it is impairing visual development by locking the pupil
  2. If it is causing your child to lift her chin significantly to see straight ahead
  3. If you would like to normalize her appearance

Without examining her it is difficult to know if she fits into category 1 or 2. Only you can determine if she is in #3.
