Caregiver to 13 yr. old male states concern that the time frame of administration of Reglan is not allowing child to receive it at school and behaviors are escalating. Can Reglan be taken at 8:30 am and 10:30 am if this coincides with meals?
Reglan should be taken 15 to 30 minutes before major meals. This is obviously not always possible. 15 minutes before is probably acceptable, and it will have some effect taken at the beginning of the meal. It is not clear, however, that a lack of preceding (pre-meal) Reglan will have an effect on intake or behavior. It should have more of an effect on emptying and after-meal reflux and vomiting. The reflux, however, could affect behavior afterwards.
